Proposal

For my Senior Project, I came up with the idea of designing the brand for a nail business. I want to create a brand and design elements that are different from any other nail businesses that already exist. I will create a fun and welcoming feeling for the new customers that support this business. This will be a small and self-owned business, with only one person working in the salon. Having a small salon will bring low prices and a good relationship with your nail technician. My goal is to target the people that like to get their nails done, but do not like the chaos of busy nail salons. This comes from personal experiences of unsatisfied services because of the time frame that the workers are dealing with.

This will be a business, based in Huntingdon, PA called “Country Gloss”. The business is up and coming and does not yet exist. I chose this topic because nails are a passionate hobby of mine, and I feel like this would be a fun way for me to do nails and create designs at the same time. I also think that this would be beneficial for others to see a nail brand/ business that is not like the other businesses that exist. Most businesses have similar names, or they all feel and/ or look the same and this business will attract people and help them find something new!

According to the Benchmarking Company as of June 12, 2025, 96% of females either go to salons or do polish at home. Only 10% are done in salons and 43% is done at home. Most people tend to lean towards going to independent nail technicians because they provide lower costs and better connections. This is an important key factor because this is an option for a small area (like Huntingdon), that people will not have to travel to go to a salon.

Brand Origin:

Country Gloss is an individually run nail business located in the small town of Huntingdon, PA. Rooted in a love for creativity and personal connection, the salon embraces a rustic, down-to-earth style that reflects the charm of its surroundings. More than just a place to get your nails done, Country Gloss is designed to feel warm, welcoming, and personal—like stepping into a space where you can truly relax and be yourself.

At the heart of the business is nail technician Hannah Scalia, who brings passion, attention to detail, and a genuine care for each client into every appointment. Her goal is not only to create beautiful, customized nail designs, but also to build lasting relationships with those who sit in her chair. Each visit is an opportunity to unwind, connect, and leave feeling refreshed, confident, and polished.

Country Gloss stands for more than beauty—it’s about comfort, trust, and a personalized experience that keeps clients coming back, not just for the results, but for the feeling they leave with.
